Building Your SOR Classroom Island in a Whole Language Ocean

Phonemic Awareness, Phonics Instruction and Assessment, and Decodable Books


In this Session, we will discuss shifts for classroom instruction in school environments that follow balanced literacy. I will share resources for building solid decoding and spelling foundations and for designing structured literacy small groups to replace classic "guided reading" time. I will also discuss how to assess students' knowledge from this explicit instruction and re-engage in data-based lessons.

This session is intended for K-2 teachers new to the Science of Reading. The information in this course will be helpful for Tier 1-3 instruction as well as one-one tutoring or even homeschooling parents!
